KASBC SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
- Kingwood High School All-Sports Booster Club (KASBC) recognizes the value of athletics, and promotes academic success through athletic development. In order to promote Kingwood students beyond High School the club has established a scholarship.
- Each year the club will accept applications from senior athletes and award scholarships on the basis of athletic participation, academic success, outstanding moral character and work ethics displayed during their years at KHS.
- One KHS athlete will be awarded the Coogan Scholarship in the amount of $1,055, which is the base $1,000 scholarship plus $55 (as that was the number on Parker's jersey when he was an athlete at KHS). The foundation of the Coogan Scholarship award, in cooperation with Tim and Amy Coogan, is based on the amazing characteristics for which Parker Coogan lived his life. Parker's legacy embodies Academic Excellence, Generosity, Kindness, and Loyalty. These qualities are used to determine the recipient of this award, each year.
- Approximately 15 selected student-athletes will receive $1,000.00 scholarships each year, based on applications which take into account athletic participation, leadership, academics, and a written essay. Multiple scholarships will be awarded to both men and women student-athletes.
Scholarship Criteria. Applicant must have:
- Completed three semesters at KHS
- Participated in at least one of the 16 KASBC Booster Club recognized sports
- Participated in sports at KHS during their Senior year and be eligible for graduation in May
- A paid membership to the KHS All Sports Booster Club
After selection of recipient and before presentation of the scholarship:
- If the recipient should break any rule of HISD which requires disciplinary action or displays conduct considered inappropriate for a scholarship recipient such scholarship recipient shall be withdrawn and awarded to the candidate with the next highest point total
- Candidate must be accepted for admission to a college, university or other secondary educational institution for the Fall Semester
- Student(s) receiving a full-paid athletic scholarship will not be eligible for this scholarship
